Building Glass Curtain Wall System

A glass curtain wall system is a non-structural exterior cladding that uses large glass panels and aluminum frames to enclose a building while providing natural light, modern aesthetics, and energy efficiency. These systems are commonly used in commercial buildings, office towers, hotels, shopping malls, and luxury residences.

1️⃣ Features of a Glass Curtain Wall System

✔ Modern Aesthetics & Transparency

✅ Enhances the building’s architectural appeal with a sleek, contemporary design.
✅ Maximizes natural light and provides unobstructed views.

✔ High-Strength & Weather Resistance

✅ Made with tempered or laminated glass for durability and safety.
✅ Protects against wind, rain, UV radiation, and thermal expansion.

✔ Energy Efficiency & Thermal Insulation

✅ Can integrate Low-E, insulated, or double-glazed glass to reduce energy consumption.
✅ Minimizes heat transfer and improves indoor comfort.

✔ Flexible Design & Customization

✅ Available in various glass types, frame materials, and configurations.
✅ Supports structural and frameless designs for different project needs.

2️⃣ Types of Glass Curtain Wall Systems

🔹 Stick Curtain Wall System

  • Assembled on-site, where aluminum mullions, transoms, and glass panels are installed individually.
  • Flexible design, suitable for custom projects.
  • Best for low- and mid-rise buildings.

🔹 Unitized Curtain Wall System

  • Pre-fabricated panels (glass + aluminum frame) are assembled in a factory and installed on-site.
  • Faster installation with better quality control.
  • Ideal for high-rise buildings due to its efficient weatherproofing and reduced labor costs.

🔹 Frameless / Structural Glass Curtain Wall

  • Uses structural silicone glazing or point-fixing (spider system) to create a seamless glass facade.
  • Maximizes transparency and modern aesthetics.
  • Ideal for luxury commercial buildings and public spaces.

Frameless Glass Curtain Wall
Building glass curtain wall system comprises a non-load-bearing skin or envelope attached to the exterior of a building, usually made of glass held in place by an aluminum frame.
Glass curtain walls are designed to resist air and water infiltration, accommodate building sway and movement due to wind and seismic forces, and support its own weight and other forces acting on it. They can be customized in various ways, including the use of tinted, reflective, or low-emissivity (low-E) glass to improve thermal performance and reduce solar heat gain.

Main Features
1.Industrialized production, high accurate assembly, effective control of construction schedule, distinct economic and social benefits.
2.Adoption of structural sealing between units, no need for on-site filling of sealant, no impact of weather on sealing, strong adaptability to displacement of the main structure, applicable to super high-rise and high-rise buildings and steel structures.
3.Excellent performance in air tightness, water proofing as well as wind load deformation and plane deformation, compliance with high requirements of environmental protection and energy conservation.
